3. Their band name was one they felt that had to earn.
“The Outer Vibe is more of a name that we chose without really knowing that we would grow into it like we did. Originally we chose it only for the purpose of having a name to operate by, but eventually we discovered that the name absolutely described the energy we create and The Vibe can be used to explain the vibrating waves that transcend the understanding of any one member of the group and become the combination of all of us together. With our latest album, Full Circle, we feel we have finally earned the name, and we can stand proudly behind it and explode this energy that we had no idea we would ever be able to produce.”
4. For The Outer Vibe, the people are what makes Columbus the place to perform.
“We bring the people at every one of our shows to what we like to call a ‘musical paradise’; an alternate reality that we create to help ourselves and others escape the mundane and go exploring together in a realm that is much more real than everyday life. Our favorite part about Columbus would be the people that we have the privilege of playing for. We constantly talk about how playing a show is like a back and forth game of energy tennis. We throw all the energy we can muster at the audience and they combine it with theirs and throw it back. This spirals out of control until the concert goers and the band both end up leaving the show feeling better than we can believe music could make us feel.”
5. They are looking forward to sharing their musical journey with the amazing people of FMMF and Columbus!
“We are looking forward most to bringing the very aesthetically inclined people of FMMF along with us on our journey and combining the magic of the Vibe with the effortless style of the fine people in Columbus. It is an honor for us to be included on the bill with names such as Young the Giant, AWOLnation, and St. Vincent, and we hope to be seen alongside these acts and many other big names for years to come. Anytime we get the opportunity to play for a large group of people that have never seen us before, we know it is the ultimate test and exactly why we play music in the first place; to connect with new people.”
