Artist Spotlight: Captain Kidd

Captain Kidd Promo-2

Five Things You Didn’t Know About Captain Kidd!

1) They are from Cleveland!

They call “Believeland” their hometown.

2) They’re Buckeyes!

The five band members went to The Ohio State University!

3) Steak ‘N’ Shake is the birthplace of their band name (along with some other crazy ideas).

“We used to have a tradition where every time we drove between Cleveland and Columbus on the weekends, we would stop to eat at the Steak ‘N’ Shake in Mansfield. One of those weekends we were having the hardest time trying to think of a band name (we had a show coming up pretty soon and were still unnamed). So while we were stopped at the Steak ‘N’ Shake, Eric and Nate jokingly started compiling a list of the most ridiculous band names we could think of. One of the names on the list was “Captain Kidd & the Great White Mako”. The name was pretty ridiculous but it somehow stuck with us, and eventually we decided to just roll with it and shorten it to ‘Captain Kidd’”

4) They know the musical talent that resides in Columbus (Don’t have to tell us ;)!

“The best part of playing in Columbus has to be seeing the sheer amount of talent that’s in and around the city. On any given night there’s dozens of shows going on, and no matter where you go its pretty much a guarantee that you’ll get to see a good band. We’re definitely proud to be part of such a vibrant music scene.”

5) They know that the FMMF after parties are the places to be!

“We’re totally looking forward to the FMMF after parties. We played two of them last year and everyone was having a blast. This year should be even better. Also, we’re pretty stoked to sing along to ‘How Low’ during Luda’s set.”
