Five Things You Didn’t Know About Northern Whale

1. They’re local!

The band calls Youngstown, Ohio their home.

2. They started the band while they were in high school.

Jake Stephens, Brandon Fisher and Jake Capezzuto formed the band when they were 14!

3. Their name came from song inspiration.

“We were only in 7th grade at the time and it took a while to find something we could all agree on. Eventually, Stephens showed us a song called Northern Whale by The Good, The Bad, and The Queen and the name just kind of stuck with us from then on.”

4. They like to dance and sing silly, just like us.

Capezzuto – “I really enjoy dancing on stage and just looking like a weirdo, as silly as that sounds. I just like doing what I can to keep the crowd involved and having fun.”

Stephens – “I just like playing the songs.”

Scott – “I like dancing and looking at Cap’s (Jake/Singer) hips shake.”

Brandon – “I just like watching Cap’s hips.”

5. They’re pretty excited about FMMF! (Aren’t we all??)

“First and foremost, we just really love to play live shows. We’re really excited to take advantage of the opportunity to play this awesome, young festival. Especially given the chance to do this being just 19 and 20-year-olds. Secondly, we can’t wait to see the other acts. We still can’t believe we get to say that we’re on the same bill as Young the Giant, Ludacris, AWOLNATION, O.A.R., and all the other amazing names that FMMF got together. We can’t wait for the weekend to get here!
